How to add comments and live chat for listeners

Turn on listener accounts, then add Comments and Live chat sections so signed-in listeners can talk to your station and each other, with moderation built in.

Radiocast Sites ·

Comments and live chat let signed-in listeners talk to your station and each other. Both are sections you add to a page, so switching them off is as simple as hiding the section.

What do you need first?

Turn on Settings → Listener accounts in the editor. Listeners then sign up on your own site, and staff sign in there too.

How do you add comments?

  1. Open a page in the editor and add the Comments section.
  2. Optionally turn on Approve comments before they appear.
  3. Publish.

Anyone can read comments, and posting needs an account. On a News page, comments appear under each post.

How do you add live chat?

  1. Add the Live chat section (the compact variant suits a sidebar).
  2. Set Slow mode to limit how often each listener can send a message.
  3. Publish.

Chat is for signed-in listeners only. Messages appear instantly for everyone.

How do you moderate?

See staff roles and moderation.

Frequently asked questions

Can guests chat without an account?

No. Live chat requires listeners to be signed in, which keeps spam and abuse down.

How do I turn comments off?

Hide or delete the Comments section and publish.
